The list below records activities that are being implemented by a range of organisations or companies across South Africa on Mandela Day and the days thereafter.

AQrate KZN
AQrate KZN will be running a series of business skills workshops and offering discounts on black economic empowerment verification to businesses with more than 50% black shareholding.

City of Matlosana
The day’s event will start with participants doing community work at 15 different registered Disability Centres for 67 minutes. After this, all teams will converge at Folang Disability Centre in Kanana, Orkney for the main celebration.
The Executive Mayor will use the platform to address the participants as well as give orphans gifts and hand a R1- million cheque to persons with disabilities.

City of Neighbours
City of Neighbours will screen a Mandela video for young people who are part of the peace- building organisation, which became visible immediately after the xenophobic violence in South Africa last year.

Department of Arts and Culture
The department will hold an entertainment concert in Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, Johannesburg, on July 18. There will be a variety of cultural performances, plus speeches by members of government.

Ehlanzeni Ubuntu baBantu Mandela Day Reach-Out Programme
Municipality staff will visit disadvantaged communities, providing food parcels and blankets.

Gauteng Provincial Government
The Gauteng government will be hosting a series of events around Johannesburg, including gardening, helping at soup kitchens, cooking for the elderly and donating toys and books to underprivileged children.

Iziko Museums of Cape Town
Iziko Museums will host the “2010 Soccer Indaba”, its second such event. Thereafter, it has planned a youth clean-up campaign in Khayelitsha.

Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, Office of the MEC for Public Safety and the City of Johannesburg’s Community Development Department
Together, these organizations will assist homeless people in the Johannesburg inner city by providing them with relevant services, assistance and care on Mandela Day.

Kulani Boxing Promotions
Kulani Boxing Promotions will host a professional boxing tournament at the Qunu Civic Hall. Boxers from Umtata will be meet East London boxers in the ring.

Mandela Organisation Activity
The Mandela Organisations will be active on Mandela Day in their respective areas of work. The Nelson Mandela Foundation, through its Centre of Memory and Dialogue will convene as part of its ongoing series, a community conversation in Khayelitsha to address issues of xenophobia.
Other Nelson Mandela Foundation staff will spend at least 67 minutes of their time on various community-based projects.
The Nelson Mandela Institute for Education and Rural Development, with the University of Fort Hare, will organise volunteers to renovate a local high school in Alice and clean up the town.
The Mandela Rhodes Foundation will be part of a series of ubuntu workshops in Cape Town that aim to explore issues of diversity and the spirit of ubuntu in the workplace.
The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund will honour and celebrate its Founder’s example and legacy through continuous support of programmes that affect the lives of children. The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund currently supports 74 programmes across the country.

Miss Junior SA will visit Westford Thando Community crèche spending time with the children and assisting where she can.

Individuals may submit their plans for Mandela Day, and the NHC will visit the best applicant and document their community service.

Nelson Mandela Square will host a party for underprivileged children, on the square, on July 18.

Phumlani Dube and Gift of Givers will hand out food hampers and community support packages to 2000 people in Umlozi, Durban.

Service Delivery Outreach Party, Ivory Park
Beauty Contained will be supplying 67 women to provide pampering treatments and massages to the elderly at the Ivory Park Service Delivery Outreach Party on Mandela Day.

The SAFMH has alerted all 17 mental health organisations across the country as well as 68 member organisations about the campaign.

The blood service will be blood donation drive in Mr Mandela’s honour. Please see its website for donation points on the day.

South African Qualifications Authority
SAQA aims to promote the culture of reading among children by donating children’s books to two homes for HIV/AIDS orphans. The staff will spend at least 67 minutes reading to the children.
