After losing the honor of co-hosting the 2011 world cup of the sport of cricket, for which people of sub-continent are fanatic, PCB has come to reconciliation with ICC. The dispute was resolved in a meeting of ICC and PCB officials in Dubai today. PCB would now receive US $ 10.5 million as a hosting fee. PCB will also receive additional amount as a compensation, which is still undisclosed, for the loss of hosting rights.

The up coming cricket world cup was initially scheduled to be hosted by the sub-continental countries; India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh but the curse of terror attack in Lahore on Sri Lankan team. The attack resulted in killing five security personnel and injured six Sri Lankan cricketers. Sri Lankan team had to abandon the ongoing series. Pakistan had already been hit badly due to terror activities by extremist militants, but that even cost them heavily. The cricket loving nation was badly struck and defamed due to this unfortunate incident. Aftermath of this incident was that ICC had to pull out those 14 scheduled matches from Pakistani venues. The matches were distributed among other hosting countries.

PCB had initially sent a legal notice to the ICC, calling the ICC’s decision as illegal and discriminatory, but later PCB decided to resolve the issue out of court.
PCB also pled to ICC for outsourcing their matches to UAE, but ICC didn’t agree to this, stating that this is out the hosting agreement.
