Advancements in technology are very rapid in today’s world. The latest to mention is that multimedia would be played in paper magazines. The US show-biz magazine “Entertainment Weekly”, abbreviated as EW, will be publishing video advertisements in that paper magazine in September. This new video-in-print technology has been developed by a USA firm Americhip.

Video-in-print, an innovative technology for advertising.
The audio quality is equally good, but there are no volume controls, and in a quiet environment, it’s quite loud. This is surely a intentional design feature, aimed at getting the attention of people nearby.
A small and slim screen, which uses LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) technology, would be used for the purpose of displaying video ads. The slim-line screens around the size of a mobile phone display are also having rechargeable batteries to recharge them. Batteries can be recharged using mini-USB. Rechargeable battery lasts upto 70 minutes.
The LCD screen is 2.77 mm thick. It has a resolution of 320 X 240
The chip technology used to store the video, described as similar to that used in singing greeting cards, is activated when the page is turned. Each chip can hold up to 40 minutes of video.
The first clips will preview programs from US TV network CBS and show advertisements by Pepsi.
Although, this is a rather expensive way of advertising, as compared to the in-use way of printed advertisements, but still, it’s an innovative way to catch the attention of customers and readers.
