Many religious activities are simple ritualism which are of no great benefit to the one who practice these and to the society as a whole. The Quran-e-Majeed, the last and final and absolutely protected divine book in letter by letter and word by word regards these man made practices as a great burden on the shoulders of the man. One of the important function of the true divine religion is to remove this burden. This in turns make human beings light and they can fly high.
Many Muslims who are praying are actually performing ritual prayers without the presence of heart and mind. As a result they get very little if any thing from their regular congregational prayers called As-Salah. For females there is no requirement to go to Masjid and attend congregational paryers. Their As-Salah could be at their homes or offices (If they are working women). There are active religious movements which support such practice. Take the example of Tbaleeghi Jamat which deprives its followers active learning of Quranic Arabic and even go to the extent of shutting the microphone when Quran-e-Majeed is recited.
Quran-e-Majeed calls people who do not use their brain and senses as the worst animal. Even during the early time of the Prophet (PBUH) when alcohol was not prohibited Quran clearly says do not go to prayers until you understand what you say. Recitation of Quran-e-Majeeed with full understanding of it is essential part of As-Salah. Recitations of Quran in the Fajr (Dawn) Salah is equated as Salah as Quran tells us that such recitation is witnessed (by the angels). By understanding the Quranic Arabic, the Salah becoems alive and provide great tranquility and peace to the mind. It is a source of immense strength and a cure for many psychological disorders including anxiety and depression etc.
Many people just give lip service for example Christians to Jesus and some Muslims to Syedna Hussain (May Allah be pleased with them). They do not dare to follow the footsteps of Jesus and Hussain respectively. Many Muslims are doing same to the Prophet (PBUH). This pseudo love means very little. If we do not oppose the wrong ones and we do indulge in corruption ourselves and justify this with abuse of our intellect, then we are not the followers of these great leaders. As a matter of fact mourning for any body who killed or died is prohibited after 3 days except for husband by the wife which can be as long as 4 months. To create rituals in Islam is regarded Jahilia and the Prophet (PBUH) told us that all such Jajila will go into fire.
My humble request to all Muslims is that please follow the path of the great leaders and stop being hypocrite. No one has authority to create rituals except Allah Ta’lah. IF we love the Prophet we must obey what he said and he did. Mere saying “I love you” and doing opposite is hypocrisy of greatest order. I have the same message for my Christian brothers and sisters. They must follow Jesus (PBUH) and do not merely give lip service. They should not adopt the man made fabrications which killed the message and practice of Jesus under the wrap of his personality worship which were invented by his bitterest enemies including Paul.
