Ministry of Interior Thursday issued the expected dates for public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2010.As regard Muslim events which depend on sighting of moon, the expected dates have been prepared and issued in consultation with Meteorological Department, Karachi. Ministry of Minorities was consulted for setting the dates for festivals of minorities.

“It is pertinent to mention that holidays for Muslim festivals are subject to appearance of moon for which a separate notification will be issued”, said a circular of Ministry of Interior.

According to prepared calendar, Public Holidays of 2010 are the following—Kashmir Day Friday February 5, 2010, Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12 Rabi-ul-Awal 1431 A.H) Friday February 26, Pakistan Day Tuesday March 23, 2010, Labour Day Saturday May 1, 2010, Independence Day Saturday August 14, 2010, Eid-ul-Fitr (1st Shawal 1431 A.H) Thursday August September 9, 10, and 11, 2010, Iqbal Day Tuesday November 9, 2010, Eid-ul-Azha (10 Zil Haj 1431 A.H) Wednesday & Thursday November 17 & 18, 2010 Quaid-e-Azam Day/ Christmas Day Saturday December 25, 2010, Day after Christmas Sunday December 26, 2010, Ashura (9th & 8th Moharrum 1431 A.H) Thursday and Friday December 16 & 17, 2010.
