Facebook, the world’s biggest social networking website, has launched mobile version of their website. This new text-only version is called Facebook Zero. Facebook said that more than 100 million people now access Facebook from their phone. So this new low-bandwidth version will help users load pages speedily and communicate actively.
Since the trend has changed very rapidly and mobile phone manufacturers now focus on rich featured hand held devices, having all sorts of common features a particular computer can have alongwith speedy access to the Internet; evolution of mobile phone version websites has become essential.
The GSM Association (GSMA), an association of mobile operators and related companies dedicated to support the standardization, deployment and promotion of the GSM mobile telephone system. recently revealed that Facebook accounts for nearly half of all the time people in the UK spend going online using their phones.
The data showed that people in the UK spent around 2.2bn minutes browsing Facebook during December alone. Facebook said the new site omits data intensive applications like photos.
