Google Translate is a service provided by Google Inc. to translate a section of text, or a web page, into 57 another language. The service limits the number of paragraphs, or range of technical terms, that will be translated. It is also possible to enter searches in a source language that are first translated to a destination language allowing you to browse and interpret results from the selected destination language in the source language. For some languages, users are asked for alternate translations such as for technical terms, to be included for future updates to the translation process. Text in a foreign language can be typed, and if “Detect Language” is selected, it will not only detect the language, but it will translate into English by default. [wikipedia]
Google translation, has added Translation to Urdu in the list. This means that now you can translate urdu in 57 different languages of the world and also 57 different languages into Urdu.
I must appreciate this Not because Urdu is our National language but Urdu is vast language and contains words of several other languages like Persian, Arabic etc. This tool by Google will great helpful in localizing the content by presenting foreign language websites in Urdu language through Google’s web page translation tools.
Well here I want to mention that Google is not the first to launched this Urdu translation Tool, We have another local website PakTranslations.com that served for long, as only Urdu language translation tool available on web. But this move from Google is going to hamper PakTranslations, by large, particularly, when it comes to results.
Just to add, Google Translation allows users to upload documents and get them translated with a single click. Also you can use Google Translate for Urdu to any other Language dictionary. About the quality of translation, given that in ALPHA version, results are amazing good, but not the perfect. Let’s expect further enhancements with time.
