Every Muslim has a desire to perform Hajj as it is a religious duty that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so. Pakistan is one of those countries from where thousands of people went to perform Hajj every Year to Mecca, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam and it is currently the largest annual pilgrimage in the world.
Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA), Government of Pakistan has recently announced the Hajj Policy 2010. In this policy current government increase Hajj expenses up to 19% approximately and those who performed Haj during last five years would not be entertained this year. This Policy was announced yesterday by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Hamid Saeed Kazmi.
According to the announced new policy, MORA would start receiving Hajj applications by the applicants, under the Hajj scheme by Government of Pakistan from June 10, 2010 till June 25, 2010. All the interested candidates can get Hajj applications forms from June 10 from prescribed Banks in Pakistan, these Banks are Allied Bank Limited, Habib Bank Limited, MCB Bank , National Bank of Pakistan, United Bank Ltd and ZTBL.
This year 160,000 pilgrims will perform Hajj according to announced policy under the government and private schemes. In which 80,000 pilgrims will perform Hajj under the government scheme while 79,647 pilgrims will perform Hajj organized by Hajj Group Organizers.
The Pakistani Officials approached Saudi government to allocate an additional quota of 10,353 pilgrims and Pakistan hopes that the KSA will grant this request, said Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi while unveiling the policy for the year 2010.
1. Expense of Hajj 2010 from Pakistan:
- People who will travel from Quetta and Karachi: Rs 226,000 (two lac and twenty six thousand only)
- Other locations of Pakistan: Rs 238,000 (two lac and thirty eight thousand only)
2. Required Documents:
- National Identity Card issued by NADRA
- International Readable Passport, having validity of at least one year
3. Important Dates:
- Start of filing of application forms: June 10, 2010
- Last date for submission of application forms: June 25, 2010
- First Hajj flight: 10 October, 2010
Updates 11 August 2010:
Ballot Result, Hajj – 2010 for intending pilgrims who have applied for Hajj under Government Hajj Scheme for Hajj – 2010.
Note: Successfull applicants are requested to submit their MRI Passports (expiry date not less than 10-05-2011) to their respective bank/ branch before or on 17-08-2010. In case of correction in applicant information please contact your respective bank/ branch.
Update Saturday, 21 August 2010:
Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Hamid Saeed Kazmi on Thursday categorically said that the Hajj fares announced in the policy-2010 would remain intact and termed some media reports about reduction in air travel charges “misleading”.
“There is no reduction in Hajj fares. Each intending pilgrim will have to pay Rs226,000 to get a flight from Karachi and Quetta, while those from other stations will have to pay Rs238,000 as per earlier announcement made in the Hajj policy on June 3,” he said while talking to APP.
Update:
All HGOs are directed to deposit their Airfare with PIA upto Sep, 16th, 2010 and get booking from them positively, which is prerequsite for visa affixation. Other Airlines shall not be allowed to carry Hujjaj of HGOs. In case of any delay OR violation, major complaint shall be considered against the HGO and Ministry will take appropriate action through its Complaint Disposal Cell (CDC).

I am planning to go for Hajj this year. I live abroad and will have to travel to pakistan to go for hajj as KSA govt has nationality wise quota. Since i can only take limited amount of holidays for hajj, i want to know how long do these govt schemes and Hajj organizers scheme take? like 2 weeks? 4weeks? how long. Because I understand that hajj only is for 4 days, however due to flights issue it takes longer to come back. Can anybody give me a rough idea. Thanks

It depends on you, how long you want to stay there, packages offered by different organizers are of 27 days, 30 days, 35 day….

Yes, there are no hajj passports. The Govt. of Pakistan, will issue Hajj visas on International passports.
We are Hajj Group Organizers in Pakistan and are working for 35 years. You can send your passport to Pakistan, so that we can process the visa here. If not possible, then send anyone from your family to our office, along with the passport photocopy, your NIC photocopy and 4 passport size pictures, with blue background, then we can let you in que for Hajj. And in September, you come back to Pakistan and we will arrange for your visa on your Passport.

I have been placed under Waiting list in the drawal. The fate of which has not yet been decided and information by the Haj Directorate. Plz confirm whether we would have a chance for the pilgrimage. I have not withdrawn the amount from the bank.
Congratulations to all who have been selected for this year Hajj. I really congratulate them and ask them to pray for the Muslim Ummah and for the People of Pakistan and for Pakistan that Allah show us the right path and terrorism be finished from Our beloved land Pakistan.. I am working in Jeddah and last year I got a chance to Perform Hajj from here (Jeddah). Pakistan government is taking a hell of amount for Hajj expense, and people who have been selected through a draw had to go on a PIA flight.. If you compare PIA fares with others PIA is much much higher than other airlines..and damm with the service of PIA and its fares.. I have travel only once in PIA and after that I prefer to travel other Airlines like Saudi Airlines.
Any ways this is how government earns from needy people who have desire to perform UMRAH and HAJJ.. all the best to all and best wishes for all the HAJJ PILGRIMS..
