National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) – Activated

In December 2009 Government of  Pakistan had established an agency called National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) in order to counter the waves of violence and terrorism in the country. The purpose of the authority is to reinforce the ongoing counter terrorism efforts.

In the start NACTA has faced huge criticism but after the Suicide Attack in the premises of the Holy Shrine of Data Darbar the government has decided to activate the National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) immediately. This decision was taken today in  a high level meeting on ‘national security‘ presided over by current Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.

NACTA was mandated to devise a counter-terrorism strategy that should address short, medium and long-term goals and devise action plans for their implementation.
