The gems and jewellery sector which has already been declared as an industry in Pakistan is looking forward to an increased earning of US$1.5 billion by 2017 through the export of gems and jewellery. Exports in this sector have been estimated on the basis of interest generated by international buyers and the sector’s potential for valuable gems and striking designs.

Mr. Bashir Ahmed Abbasi, Chief Executive Officer, PGJDC said “We are confident that in the next few years, the gems and jewellery sector will become an integral part of Pakistan’s foreign exchange earnings with the help of proper infrastructure, technology, marketing, human resources and appropriate directions from the government of Pakistan; we are ready to compete in the international markets”.

Pakistan has extensive reserves of scintillating gems, uncut precious and semi-precious stones in the regions surrounding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Azad Kashmir.

Prominent gems and jewellery companies from all over Pakistan will display their valuable products in the Exhibition. Buyers from countries like China, Far East region, Middle East and Europe have been invited to visit the Exhibition, which will give a great impetus to the business of gems and jewellery in Pakistan. Not only that, the Exhibition will also be open for local buyers including end consumers enabling spot sales and general awareness of the rich treasures of gemstones and jewellery craftsmanship among the masses.
