As mentioned in the story below, while dimwitted or dishonest politicians are lashing at Altaf Hussain distorting his statement for a call for martial like swift action against corruption feudal lords, politicians and generals, Asif Ali Zardari has so far offered no comment. Altaf had criticized the foreign policy and denounced subservient attitude in meeting demands of US and UK.
The saner elements in the country are wondering if the circumstances in the country warrant imposition of emergency as provided in the constitution. It is not only law and order situation and devastation caused by floods the steep decline in economy and selfishness and greed of politicians, traders, industrialists and corrupt bureaucrats that has triggered inflation and people are forced to commit suicide. On the other hand bad governance has resulted in almost in state of anarchy and corruption is spreading its tentacles.
There are several lac cases pending in courts. The decision on Asghar Khan’s petition for taking action against the elements who distributed biibe money among politicians to form IGI to defeat PPP is in cold storage since over 12 years. Action against the politicians who had taken loans and defalcated is not taken and their list is in NRO.
Imran Khan says the present parliament is not democratic and it came into being because manipulation in elections. While PPP and PML (N) give lot of lip-service to democracy, the have destroyed the first tier of democracy in a republic that was in the form of Local Bodies Government. That must be restored and more powers be devolved on them for policing and taxation.
