I earnestly request you to please publish this letter of mine at the earliest available opportune, as I think, in this age of people’s right to free media and media’s right to remain free and unhindered, it bears something really important.
Sir, on a petition moved by an important media personality (his name is Dr. Shahid Masood, the President of ARY Digital- if you may like to specify the name) the Supreme Court of Pakistan has given a landmark verdict against stopping and hindering telecast of TV channels in various parts of the country on political considerations. The Supreme Court directed PEMRA to open all the closed channels immediately without waiting for written or detail verdict.
But one of those channels, one of the victims of government’s whim, which is the part of the biggest newspaper network (the name of which is “Geo TV”, in case you are ready to specify the proper name of the channel) was giving the breaking news and footing of the routine news in such a way that, as if the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan was only concerned about this one channel and asking asking about its ‘well-being’ in his remarks during hearings. It was also as if this one channel was under restriction, and the Chief Justice had ordered to remove all restrictions against this one channel.
This was not fair on the part of that one channel (“Geo TV” – if you may like to specify). This is hindrance on the way of our getting complete, unbiased and unhindered news and information. If you publish my this letter, and if people express more and more, their concerns about the TV channels’ distortions of facts in writing, then I hope, one day our right to free media, and media’s responsibility to give complete picture to the people will be ensured.

By now you should understand that the “historic” or unhistoric verdicts of the honnourable Supreme court are not worth the paper they are written on as long as this “democratic” Govt is on power. Unfortunately our “elected” parliammentarians honestly and sincerely bellieve that they are the law. Look at the most historic verdicts about the NROs and the opening AAZ’s cases in Switzerland. So please stop talking about the so called historic verdicts.
