Karachi Police is controlled from Islamabad and Ministry of Interior of Government of Sindh and not by the City Government whereas in most democratic countries policing is responsibility of local bodies and Federal force come when inter state crimes and big crimes occur.
This division of authority and responsibility in Pakistan is the root cause of various problems and police gets away with its inefficiency and excesses as in the past politicians have used police for bashing political opponents FIRs of more than 50% crimes are not registered as is generally believed.
Lawlessness has gradually increased in Karachi as action against squatters and land grabbers, drug and arms smugglers has not been taken as some police officials are said to be involved.
It is shameful for any government where land and property grabbers illegally occupy private and government property by force. These properties include plots in housing societies in suburbs of Karachi, shops and flats in newly constructed buildings for the people who paid for them while working in Middle East or other areas of Karachi. Why police is not taking action is a big question mark.
Illegal hydrants have been erected and water supply to industrial and posh residential areas is blocked to promote water tanker business and as much as RS. 1000 for one trip is charged. There is deluge of illegal arms including automatic weapon. The proposal to withdraw weapons in Karachi is wishful thinking because police cannot trace the illegal weapons of prohibited bore and other lethal armaments that terrorists use in killing people. If licensed arms are withdrawn it will increase crime rates and terrorism.
Action against breaking traffic rules by bus operators and taxi drivers is rarely taken because most of them are alleged to be owned by the family members of policemen.

In my opinion, whatever is happening in Pakistan is totally self created, we keep on discussing the issue of corruption in talk shows and in general discussion, but as far as i concern we only discuss corruption issue in order to pass our time, i have not seen any solid steps against this crime which is spoiling our beloved country. Whatever is going around us is the output product of corruption. As a youngster i have analyzed that first we have to pin point the root causes of corruption, Once they are pin pointed then it’s the responsibility of individuals that they start eliminating those root causes amongst their life styles. Remember there is no too late, just like every one of us is directly or indirectly trapped in RIBA (Interest) system, everyone of us is also involved in corruption too. Just sit have a calm breath and start thinking that where i had done corruption … you will definitely find things where you feel that you choose corruption in order to make your problem resolved. Remember there is never too late, if you feel guilty then believe me, these are the signs for you to change your self internally and have some spiritual peace.
Praying for ever great Pakistan.
