Indians will be cheering for a Pakistan win against Australia in the Group A clash of the Champions Trophy in South Africa, a victory that could also propel India to the semi-finals. If Pakistan wins at Centurion, arch-rivals India — currently third in their group — may sneak through to the semi-final on points.

‘It is interesting. The whole of India will be praying for a Pakistan win for a change,’ said former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja. ‘I think it’s a God-given opportunity for both the countries and with Indian fans praying for a Pakistan win, I hope that both the countries take this opportunity to come close to each other.’

While Searching on twitter hundreds of tweets are that: “Though its hard but Good Luck Pakistan”. This is the great moment in the history of Cricket when the traditional enemy is praying for Pakistan’s Victory.

8-29-2009_48410_lAnother good news for the Pakistani Nation. After winning the T20 World Cup 2009 now Pakistan qualifies for the Golf world Cup 2009for the first time in the history. Muhammad Shabbir and Muhammad Munir etched their names in the history books as they guided Pakistan to their first Omega Mission Hills World Cup on Saturday.

The unheralded Pakistani duo shot a superb three-under-par 68 in the final round foursomes at Seri Selangor Golf Club to finish third at the Asian qualifier, which was won by pre-tournament favourites Singapore.

The popularity of golf in Pakistan has been growing since last few years. It still remains an elite game, expensive to play and maintain as well. But as more and more courses emerge and even schools starting their golf teams, it is a sport that is growing in popularity. It is also one of the most closely followed global games and it is good to see Pakistan making it to the Golf World Cup.

golf-world-cupMohammad Shabbir and Mohammad Munir etched their names in the country’s history books by guiding Pakistan to its first Mission Hills World Cup after finishing in the top three at the Asian qualifiers in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, on Saturday. The unheralded Pakistani duo shot a superb three-under-par 68 in the final round foursomes at the Seri Selangor Golf Club to finish third behind winners Singapore, represented by Lam Chih Bing and Mardan Mamat, and the Philippines’ pair of Mars Pucay and Angelo Que.

Lam and Mardan secured their fourth World Cup appearance together after claiming a one-stroke victory following a closing 72 for a four-day total of 15-under-par 269 while Que and Pucay also signed off with a 72 to finish one back. A World Cup appearance continues to elude the Malaysian pair of Iain Steel and Danny Chia as they ended fourth after a battling 71 while Myanmar finished a further three strokes behind following a 74.

“Pakistan have played in the cricket World Cup, hockey World Cup and squash World Cup but never before in our history that we’ve been in golf’s World Cup,” said a delighted Munir.

“I don’t know how to describe how we feel right now. I’m sure everyone in Pakistan will be very happy,” he added.

Pakistan mixed their scorecard with four birdies against two bogeys before a nailing crucial final birdie on the 18th hole to seal a historic debut against the world’s best in China later in November. Continue reading »

Darren Gladstone of PC World wrote on TechMSN That If you Want to play war games like some evil mastermind? All you need is this touch table ─ and a game coming out early next year.

ruseI don’t know about you, but I’ve always wanted to play the part of a James Bond villain ─ or at least have the cool swag that comes with being megalomaniacal. All I’d need right now is $20,000 to buy this IntuiFace table by IntuiLab. But you’ll need to cough up another $50 or so next year to take advantage of it with Ubisoft’s “R.U.S.E.” ─ an intriguing upcoming real-time strategy game.

The fast-paced title takes you through World War II. To me, it looks like you’re playing a high-speed, high-intensity version of “Risk” or “Axis and Allies”. (I like its twist of letting you earn special abilities like Radio Silence or Decoys for catching your opponent off-guard.) The big draw to this demo, though, is how you navigate and command units in the world. You’re able to change the camera view to pull back to a large war-room overview or zoom down to a bale of hay on the battlefield. This is all done with multitouch sweeps and on-screen gestures drawing rings around units and sending them into battle. ruse1What was amazing is that there wasn’t a single slowdown, not one break in the action while the test went on. Already, the game is looking gorgeous. Then again, if you’re projecting it onto this super-expensive table, it had better look good.

So, are they just making this game for the superwealthy? No. According to the developer, the technology scales very nicely. Representatives say they expect the game to work well on tablet PCs that will be available when “R.U.S.E.” ships in early 2010. (The game is also being crafted for the Xbox 360 and PS3 ─ no touch-screen interface there, of course).

These neglected game systems are also some of the most endearing

For whatever reason, the majority of video game consoles are commercial or critical failures, either overlooked on store shelves or quickly abandoned in a cluttered closet. But even though they take a backseat to more popular systems, that doesn’t mean all of them are forgettable.
So for all you underdog lovers out there, we give you the most neglected but endearing video game consoles of all time. Break out the air duster and wax nostalgic; it’s going to be an enjoyable ride.

top5

Sega Saturn

In the wake of the 32-bit console wars, my buddy Josh hastily decided on a Sega Saturn over the Sony PlayStation in 1995. He chose poorly. The Saturn had practically no third-party games, and Sega would go it alone to support the system for only three short years. Still, the console was the place for powerful arcade ports including “Virtua Fighter” and “Daytona USA,” and it even introduced the cult-favorite mascot found in “Nights: Journey of Dreams.”

TurboGrafx-16

Released in 1989 as the first 16-bit console — before the Genesis and Super Nintendo, even — NEC’s TurboGrafx-16 was ahead of the curve. Unfortunately, due to ineffective localization that overlooked middle-American gamers, the console was a flop. This led to most people missing such vibrant and colorful games as “Bonk’s Adventure,” “Neutopia,” “Lords of Thunder,” “Soldier Blade,” the “Crush” pinball series and “Ys Book I & II.” For shame.

Nintendo GameCube

Before Nintendo reclaimed the video game crown from Sony in 2006 with the release of Wii, the company unceremoniously launched the purple(!) GameCube in 2001. While home to dozens of great games, periodic release droughts and an overwhelming number of choice PlayStation 2 titles made Nintendo’s “Lunch Box” an afterthought. Ironically, if it weren’t for this little underachiever, Nintendo wouldn’t have changed their ways and there would likely be no Wii.

Commodore 64

Although it looks more like a fat keyboard than a dedicated game system, the Commodore 64 had a smorgasbord of great games. Released in 1982 and often overlooked by the industry-redeeming Nintendo Entertainment System, the C64 remained widely popular among some 17 million owners thanks to such 8-bit classics as “The Last Ninja,” “Defender of the Crown,” “Elite,” “Impossible Mission,” “Space Taxi,” “Wizard” and “Battle Chess.”

Sega Dreamcast

From 1988 to 2001, Sega released four home video game consoles, only one of which was a commercial success. Despite its best effort, the Dreamcast wasn’t one of them. Still, the console would go down in gaming history with its discontinuation in 2001 as one of the most beloved systems of all time. With games such as “Virtua Tennis,” “Crazy Taxi,” “2K Sports,” “Jet Grind Radio,” “MDK 2,” “Shenmue” and “Soul Calibur,” not to mention being the first-ever console to play online, it’s no wonder.
