Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first in T20 World Cup 2014. Pakistan’s skipper Muhammad Hafeez said the pitch looked dry and they want their spinners to bowl second time for better results. Pakistan replaced Bilawal bhatti who went for 36 runs in mere 2 overs against Australia with Soahail Tanveer. Bangladesh also made one change in their eleven. Bangladesh dropped offspinner Sohag Gazi and included left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak.
Pakistan kicked off brilliant opening start. Opener Ahmed Shahzad scored maiden century in T20 history of Pakistan. He scored 111 runs on 62 balls. Pakistan set a target of 190 runs with the loss of 5 wickets.
Bangladesh struggled to reach the 190 runs milestone but failed to do so. Only Shakib ul Hassan could score 38 runs. Bangladesh scored 140/7 in total overs. Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal took 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
Shehzad century set up the strong base for team in scoring 191 scores. Pakistan needed openers’ form back. Shahzad proved that he can be dangerous for rivals in future matches but Kamran Akmal is still struggling.
Pakistan is again in do or die situation. Pakistan will play next match with West Indies in T20 World Cup 2014. Both teams have same points on points table while West Indies also have advantage of better run rate. If Pakistan needs to qualify for semi finals, they must win against West Indies.
While taking a glance on West Indies team, they recently won against Australia in a nail biting match. They possess great confidence but are week against spin bowling. Pakistan can easily take them down with Saeed Ajmal’s help.
